Caring for Carter

Carter is the 3-year-old son of a young couple from Coldwater, and nephew of De Ruijter staff member Kris. This summer he was diagnosed with Hunter Syndrome, MPSII. It is a rare, incurable disease that primarily affects the way cells and organs of the body function. Carter is required to travel to Dayton Children’s Hospital one day each week for enzyme infusions, which he will need for the rest of his life.

To help raise money and awareness, a fundraising event was recently held during the Coldwater vs. Marion Local football game at Cavalier Stadium in Coldwater, on October 12, 2012.

As part of the fundraising effort, t-shirts were sold and De Ruijter’s caring and compassionate employees came through for the cause!
